Mother's Day is already planned as a Sausage Gravy and Biscuits bonanza. My mother is very lucky in the daughter department.

I am doing that wheezing, coughing, crying laugh. Very painful.

I've heard that Tom Cruise's secret Scientology name is Parisian Roofie, so I think that is rather apropos.

We really need a gif of Martin Sheen and/or Dule Hill looking disappointed in the First Daughter's direction. Imagine I replied with that gif.

At the very least, the warning to parents should have been a little more strong than unhealthy teenage relationships. Wtf?

I kept waiting to hear microphone feedback and someone shouting, "Party's over!" Or "The power of Christ compels you!" But nothing happened. After that, I waited for them to play Like a Virgin or Nothing Compares 2 U. Nada. I still wonder if it was a conscious act of subversion by the band or if it caused a mild

It's not bad. You are supposed to feel mild outrage about all the people who are scandalized by the non-scandal. I think.

I used to say that too when I was married. And truthfully he didn't help. We're divorced now. Being a single mother is still ten times harder than having a lumpen husband.

I was recently within earshot of an outdoor Catholic young adult event hosted at an archbishop's residence. They had a live band. The band played "Like a Prayer".

Thanks for providing the link. The tweet appears to be a complete non sequitur. That's not very reassuring.

The key is what was at the link. I think it if it were something elucidating the idea that predators can stop assaulting, then the public apology might have mentioned it. I would love to be wrong though!

I thought the same thing, but I wonder what kind of information was available at the link. If it was a message directed at potential rapists about consent, great! If it was information directed at potential victims.....well.

"[high-pitched beep, buzzing feedback] Larry, rape apologist scum clean up on Aisle 9!"

I read the headline as: Authorities Seize Man's Equipment for Criticising Celine.

Ok? I feel like I've gone through the looking glass where suddenly I'm some kind of bloodthirsty right wing nut. So much black and white thinking!

I was responding to this: "If you are 100% comfortable believing that he was guilty . . .there could also be huge issues with this conviction in particular. He may not have even been guilty, although I don't know the facts of the case and will not argue one way or the other."

Colleges are equipped to make disciplinary decisions regarding their students. They have every right to suspend or expel a student when it is warranted.

They are not preventing criminal prosecution. The victim or law enforcement chose not to pursue a criminal prosecution. It would discourage victims from coming forward at all if universities automatically reported such complaints to police. It's not a perfect system, but maybe it's the best in the current climate.

You presume innocence before you make a decision, not afterward.

I understand your point. You would be a more effective advocate if you made an argument based in fact, rather than self-righteously dismissing the facts because they don't fit your agenda.
