Agreed. I took accutane at age 20 and I wasn’t able to tolerate birth control. I had to sign many waivers, but that was fine with me.

If NY is a one-party consent state for recording purposes, I fail to see an actual cause of action by the hospital. It’s also not illegal to announce you do not like your doctor and why. Case in point: Google reviews.
And where else should she find relief given that other local hospitals have blacklisted her? Maybe the medical community should do better and they wouldn’t have to be defensive. Plus this is great as this is spreading the word about a shitty doctor. Potentially saving other women from going through this.
Once they put her on the blacklist, she probably sees that the system is broken. Where do you go next? To the media.
I think her goal is not only finding relief but in sharing the insanity of her attempts to get competent and compassionate care. I certainly didn’t know this was a thing. And I bet a lot of other people didn’t either. Was Tiktok the best place to bring this to public attention? I don’t know. It seems to have worked.
Absolutely ridiculous. I remember being prescribed Accutane, which has an extremely high risk of causing severe birth defects, and all I was told was to use two forms of birth control and to take a monthly pregnancy test via blood draw. They made you take a quiz every month online to remind you of all of the risks…
I dont think it’s bad to have folks sign a waiver saying they understand if they got pregnant while on the medication it can cause birth defects but it should 100% remain the patients choice.
There are many many medications that can cause severe birth defects. Some providers require you prove you are on birth control. Some merely have you sign a waiver. This, as a precedent, is concerning as fuck.
And this is in a blue state! American women have been well and truly fucked!
I was half listening to a political ad yesterday, and I was impressed that it seemed to be going all in on going after the Republican for wanting to restrict abortion access, and was shocked when I saw the ad was for Abigail Spanberger. She is an at-risk Dem in a swing district, the prototypical shitty…
They really can’t back down now from their absolutist stance. After years of eating their own over purity issues like this, every one of them is afraid of getting primaried over any sort of wobble on “Life begins at conception”. The GOP is now the dog that caught the car.
I’m actually feeling kinda optimistic about November...
Nope. That’s the short answer.
I always take issue with this viewpoint, because it represents a profound misunderstanding of where both parties are currently at and where they’ve been in terms of recent history. Admittedly, this is a misunderstanding the media has and continues to propagate.
The answer is no. The GOP thought they had the the majority of American’s on their side because Trump won in 2016. The only explanation is they thought overturning Roe would be so popular, they didn’t need to worry about fallout.
Let’s just concentrate on holding at least one of the congressional chambers because without that, the GOP 2024 steal is going to be much easier to pull off.
Credit to Kate Riga at Talking Points Memo for this thought on their podcast:
“Didn’t they have a plan?”
From the moment they rammed Justice Serena Joy onto the Supreme Court, they knew this would happen. Did none of them think to contain the fallout somehow?
If just one of these jackholes had said, “OF COURSE a…
How delicious would the midterms be, if the Democrats SWEEP the pugs? Between the outrage about the abortion ruling and the notice about student loan forgiveness, I hate to say it, but I’m actually feeling kinda optimistic about November...
