The thing that makes her even more insane in my mind is that she did NOTHING to earn her wealth or status. She was born into a rich and influential family and married into an even richer and more influential one.

Her disruption of and disdan for the Dept of Ed is why she stays. Her disregard for the Dept’s mission goals is why she stays. She’s there to dismantle federal guarantees of education standards so that her bullshit friends can step up their efforts to bilk poor idiots with their fucking bullshit charter “schools”.

Because she’s a True Believer (tm). She is absolutely, utterly convinced of her own righteousness and superiority, because she has spent her entire life wealthy and powerful. She sees her own ideas as unquestionably correct, and is completely unable to countenance the thought that she might be wrong.

Her family gives lots and lots of money, and her brother is a dangerous man who essentially commands his own military.

I think she has already made some headway, sadly.

She wants to either stop funding public schools entirely and/or to allow government funding of private religious schools. Like all the other Trumpites, she wants to burn it all down.

No, she is there to get something specific done: defund the public schools and funnel all of the money to private/charter schools, especially religious ones. That is her only job and the only reason she was given the position.

She loves going in front of large crowds that hate her guts knowing that, regardless of how shitty she comes off as being, she’s so rich that they can’t do a damn thing to her.

TLDR—- Even teaching WWII stuff can be considered “controversial.” Its a wonder if we’re able to teach this generation anything about the wars in the middle east.

Actually, seems like she has a pretty good understanding of how she lost the election. I wish she’d realized before that for Trump voters, his bigotry and misogyny and general shittiness was a feature, not a bug.

I don’t know that she’s wrong, but it’s also clear that she’s really not helping by continuing to make comments like that, which feed so nicely into the neo-conservative grist mill at a moment when there’s a chance at some actual movement at reducing the Republican stranglehold on our government.
