USB to RS232 adapters can be very finnicky. One cable might use a particular chipset that works for one piece of equipment but not another. Sometimes the chipsets get discontinued and you have to spend hours testing dozens of cables to find one that works....

That’s... not really on CA. It’s the MFGs that would prefer to have a single model version they can sell in all the states, rather than have a CARB compliant and non-compliant version, presumably because it’s cheaper that way (it also helps that CA standards are closer to EU standards, which means less rework there as

Blindly trusting the result of another nation's regulatory agency is one of the things that led to the 737-max crashes. In that situation it was a poor job of regulation on the American side, but the point still stands.

Honestly, it varies a lot from one subreddit to the next. I play a lot of Destiny 2, and the sub for it can be a bit salty at times, but gets a lot of interaction from devs because the official forums are a shitshow in comparison.

I see a lot of people mention Bluetooth, and I strongly disagree.

When mandatory crash protection resulted in bloated c pillars.

It really doesn’t seem that busted. Sure, it puts out smg+ dps at auto rifle range, but it lacks the instant kill advantage of a grenade launcher- you’ll win 1v1s all night but if you get focused you’re still toast

Tesla had this idea a while ago: hot swappable battery packs in a car. It hasn't made it into a production version, but it's a potential method for getting around charging limitations.

916 is the answer!

This happened less than a mile away from my house, and I had the same exact thought. If I got trapped in between other cars as I’m driving home due to this asshattery, do I then get my car impounded and have to pay the shitty fees to get it back?

I definitely remember compound interest being covered. I want to say in... Algebra 2? Or maybe pre-calc... It's been quite a long time. Definitely helped highlight just how much a few percent could accumulate over long periods of time.

The hood and lights on the new Mustangs give them a weird catfish-like profile, I hate it. They could’ve kept the 2015 design with smaller tweaks to the headlights and the side panels and it would have been perfect

1600 HP V8? I think I'd rather have a 200HP single cylinder. Just chop it into 8 pieces, right?

Clearly a feature, not a bug.

That’s totally fine. In general, modern cars are a lot less sensitive to octane grade, as they can adjust for a different octane. You might see a extremely minor dip in efficiency, and that’s about it.

They plan on using these vehicles for decades, minor fender benders are going to happen and they don’t want those to lead to costly repairs.

Nexus line used to be great for this. My 6p still gets updates, and I’ve had it for a bit over 2 years. Shame Google abandoned the middle price phones completely.

Fuel economy, most likely.
