If you truly want to see it in all it’s glory, make sure to go after dusk, when it’s lit up, and stick around for the brief animatronics and fog machine display (which happens, I dunno, every quarter or half hour or something - no doubt you can look it up somewhere.)

If you lived near a Tower Records, you could probably find more stuff circa Akira. Kamui, Record of Lodoss War. A lot of darker, older stuff. I remember waking up at 5:30 AM to catch the US release of Dragon Quest/Dragon Warrior here in LA. Another channel would televise Samurai Troopers/Ronin Warriors.

Not to take away from the work of the cosplays (which are all very good), but the lighting in these photographs—particularly the EDI one up top—is stunning.
