Gollum was amazing, but I wished you added the prologue from The Fellowship to the list too. The first time I watched that I was thinking, holy fucking hell. And then when you watched what went into those massive crowd simulations, it became even more impressive.

Not a fan of Ariana Grande and don’t play Fortnite, but that looked legitimately awesome.

Its classic Showa Japan and very relaxing to watch (or maybe take part in). Hell that would’ve been something I’d pay to see...in the middle of the opening ceremony the entire show pauses. Then a crackly radio pipes up to start radio calisthenics and the entire stadium takes part in unison.

Everyone hyper-exaggerates cultures, especially on the Olympic world stage...so it’s not surprising. Still would’ve been nice to see other quieter aspects of Japanese culture. Like a radio calisthenics portion of the opening ceremonies, followed by the parade of skinny bleached hair idol recruiters.

I dig the live-action portions. As for the blue-soaked neon imagery tho, I blame Ghost in the Shell (and I’m using the word “blame” in the loosest sense) because it ingrained an image of Tokyo onto people that was actually based on Hong Kong. Still a cool promo tho.

I used to just call them helmet hairs. I was hoping one day some self-aware anime would have a protagonist with Yu-Gi-Oh hair (aka: main character hair) just suddenly remove his helmet in the second episode or something. Such a missed visual gag opportunity.

I hope I’m not the only one who’s happy to see the 90's/00's geometrically-shaped hair being retired.

But you’re equating the idea of “teaching” with “hammering into kid’s heads”, hence the dogpile on your incredibly dumb statement. Everybody knows eh? Because it doesn’t feel like many Americans know let alone acknowledge the extent of racism prevalent throughout America’s history. I’m hoping you’re already

This is what white “supremacy” looks like? Fuck, pretty low standards...

Sure they might have been differing loopholes or whatnot, but the format for strip shows in Japan are all pretty much the same. And the charges they levied against the stripper are literally the same exact show format as the aforementioned Rockza and their sister establishment in Shinjuku (which feature multiple

It’s definitely different. I went to a few and admit it really wasn’t for me. But I found it fascinating how it felt more like theater, with actual performances, theatrics, and also clapping between sets. It definitely has more in common with burlesque than Western strip shows.

That’s definitely a possibility, but I have no idea. Having been to a few shows before, I just find this news absolutely weird.

Yep, very much so. Full nudity.

Uh what the fuck? Not that I’m familiar with Japanese indecency laws, but there are nude strip shows throughout Tokyo, including incredibly famous ones like Asakusa Rockza. They’re not under the radar or misrepresenting their shows. So why this strip show?

Yup I still remember it pretty well. Her nipple and nipple ring were clearly visible. I find it funny in hindsight that I didn’t really think much of it when it happened, even though it was prime-time. Oh look...a nipple. Cool.

Played on a mid-range PC, loved it. Did one rushed play-through and 4 complete play-throughs. Seemed to live up to my expectations. I wonder sometimes what people expect from games, and if those expectations are even capable in a reasonable time frame. If there’s anything I’ve learned as a professional for 20 years,

A couple things...one, they probably thought of Katz’s or the Carnegie Deli (RIP) and just ran with it. I guess that’s ok? And two...sausage egg and cheese all the way. There was one I used to grab on the way to work during the “before times” that used a pretty tasty sausage puck, and they left their egg just the

I remember that being featured here on Kotaku. Awesome commercial.

100%. Alot of the best CG isn’t meant to be noticed.

Bad FX are the ones that rely on CG as a crutch. In my humble opinion, the best FX are the ones best suited for the work. Whether that’s practical, CG, or both. Take for instance the work they’ve done on The Mandalorian using the LED stage. It’s a mix of CG (what’s being projected) with in-camera work as they shoot
