Neither the article nor the headline stated that it was a “pad explosion.” There was an explosion (the rocket itself, up in the sky), and the pad was severely damaged in the launch attempt, sending debris flying.

Really? Did you miss the point that the concrete pad was literally blown up - disintegrated by the massive rocket blast, blown out of the ground and scattered as dust and sand and debris over dozens of acres of protected wildlife park, even into the surf and gulf? Maybe read it again.
