My question is, who are the 3 writers to exclude Griffey and what are their reasons? Just didn’t want him to be the first unanimous player? Being an old ogre (aka any beat baseball writer over 50)?

Hot take!

I dont think that the mental issue with Osweiler is as large as you make it out to be. The one thing that he has shown through this whole 8 week ordeal is strong mental toughness (whether it is dealing with being a week-to-week QB, being down by 2 TDs to both the Pats and Bengals etc).

The thing is that the decision really isn’t that simple. Brock has played better than Manning this year, and played better than him yesterday, he was just hampered by a series of turnovers that outside of the fumble weren’t really attributable to him.

For a commentor who loathes Patriots fandom, you did a pretty good job writing a boilerplate, Pats fandom response here.

Oh I agree, there is great risk involved, and I’m not saying that the NFL is actually doing anything, I’m just saying that I think it is more likely that the NFL would be involved in some sort of match-fixing scandal than any outside interest group at this point.

I know that everyone is always concerned that gamblers ruin the sport by influencing officiating, but personally, I’ve always been more concerned about the professional league itself interfering with the outcome of a game to get a match-up or result that is more marketable.

I think it’s about time we start to separate the on-field genius of Brady from the off-field asshole that this guy is. Yes, he does support Trump (and not just because he is a “friend”). He also left his pregnant girlfriend for a supermodel, who he reportedly spent this past summer cheating on while hanging with Ben

Boy, basketball has come a long way these past 125 years. There are never any brawls, or outright melees anymore....

The McCaffrey family is becoming a football factory. Christian won the Pac-10 championship last night, while at the same time, his brother Dylan QB’ed his HS to the state championship yesterday.

Damnit, you beat me to it! Here is a better quality clip, at least.

Of course he wants to get them out of St. Louis. Why else would he pay 750m for that team, with that stadium and that fan base. The only way to make any money off this deal is to get them to a larger market.

Also, don’t forget that the Chan-Zuckerberg daughter is no longer just a business friendly bundle of joy, but also one of the world’s biggest charitable contribution tax write-offs.

I generally like any analogy that brings up the 2000 election, somehow this is a very important bit of our recent past that is never discussed anymore. And while I hate to say it, I’m still not even 100% sure that Gore would have won if SCOTUS hadn’t stopped the recount, but that’s neither here nor there at this point.

I know I am responding to myself here, but there are a lot of common comments to respond to.

Yes, there were some calls that could have gone either way. And what is particularly frustrating about the NFL is that they could call offensive or defensive holding on every play, and sometimes the timing of when these calls are made seem to be more for or less beneficial for a certain team in a certain game.

But what about the crew from the Broncos-Pats game on Sunday? According to Tom Brady and backed by the venerable Skip Bayless, that was one of the worst officiated games in the history of the NFL. That is the only way the Patriots could have lost that game.

It is also worth mentioning that Brady is 2-6 lifetime in Denver. If this was Manning, or some other mortal, we would all certainly be seeing this knowledge ubiquitously cited across sports media right now.

Hey, we’ve all got our roles to play here. I’m obviously the longwinded, elitist know it all. The guy whose opinion you know is correct, but says it in such a way that you want to kick his shin. I’ll you let decide what role you played in the situation. Might I suggest “chowdahead brah”?

Thank you for your coherent and well thought out response. I am quite confident you have brought the same level of rationality and objectivity into your assessment of this situation.
