Buy used bikes. And not nice used bikes, shitty or average, but mechanically sound used bikes for your first bike, and ride it a lot. It doesn’t really matter how nice and shiny the bike looks when it hits the pavement sometime later. There is always the chance to upgrade later after some experience.
