Yeah that is definitely NOT the definition of tessitura.

i feel like gaga was in mid vent and we walked in her. all this analysis and i think we’re overthinking things. all emotive, all rage and lack of finesse. thats what i feel gaga was trying to achieve, the feelings after a tough break up

We use the word tessitura, which is how long a song lives up high. Now she’s singing in a range and a tessitura that is uncommon for her but is common for many of these other leading female artists.

Yeah, this song doesn’t seem any higher than she’s been singing.

Right?!? I really don’t listen to much pop (I don’t think I could name an Ariana Grande song but I’m sure I’ve heard a few), but I’ve always enjoyed Lady Gaga. Both her style and the things she stands for.

I actually really like this song. It’s different for her.

Deconstructing popstars voices and techniques is one of my favorite topics of discussion. And as a long time Gaga fan - seen her live 11 times - I could probably talk about this topic for ages.

I have always really liked Lady Gaga, even if I haven’t always liked her music. Two main reasons:

I am not a Lady Gaga fan, I mainly listen to hard rock and I just now heard this song since I was curious what the hell the articles here on Jezebel were going on about and to me it just sounds like she is going for more of a rock sound, and it wasn’t bad or jarring at all. I guess when you are used to only one

I prefer Gaga over Grande. At least Gaga doesn’t go around licking donuts, and having her staff carry her like a child.

I said this above. I miss rock and roll. I miss rock bands, metal, riot girl and guitars basically. I sometimes wonder if we will ever have a contemporary mega band like Fleetwood Mac or Heart again.

It definitely has a bit of Heart and Blondie feel to it while still being totally a Lady Gaga song. Feeling the old kicking in right now.

Meh. As far as pop songs go, I quite like it.

Huh. It’s funny because this is the first Gaga song in a long, long time that I really love. Not exactly sure why, but it might have something to do with the fact that I just finished watching “The Get Down,” and really enjoyed the disco meets hip hop vibe of the music.

It doesn’t bother me, but I also think that it’s because I had musical theory in orchestra and in college. I can hear how it would bother people and it’s on purpose and I kind of love it that people are SHOOK.

Don’t worry in 10-15 years she’ll lose her vocal range. Those high notes are something you can’t keep up with age. Just ask Mariah Carey.

Something off-putting about titles that make it as if something is universally felt. I didn’t think there was anything wrong with the song, and I really liked her voice. I love this song.

i don’t particularly care for the song, but i think her voice sounds fantastic. maybe i am just slowly losing my hearing?

I love it.

I said it before and I'll say it again, I like the song ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
