I know that this is not the point of the article, but calling a 51/4 floppy a “40 year old disk” sends me immediately into midlife crisis.

Zip2 was his brothers idea. Daddy funded it with dirty apartheid money.
Imagine actually being stupid enough to think Musk is responsible for any of the technological success of any of these companies.
What has Musk done to “innovate the world”?
1. Zip2 ($22m), PayPal ($165m), Tesla ($8.5b), SpaceX ($100+b)
1) Bought with money made by exploiting South Aftricans during apartheid. Also, how much coding you think he did on any of those?
Almost like “this game was a broken disaster” wasn’t actually the universal experience.
CP77 is based on a 1988 tabletop roleplaying game created by Mike Pondsmith, who famously didn’t get around to reading Neuromancer until years later. His primary inspiration for the RPG was Walter Jon Williams’ considerably more obscure Hardwired. CDPR were surprisingly robust in taking those influences and not…
Wow. Okay, but see, YOU are the one with the bug up his ass about looking past the aesthetics of the genre. And getting unnecessarily aggro to boot now, for some fucking reason.
I just don’t see how you classify that as dead? For example CDPR’s Cyberpunk which I am playing through for the first time now, certainly does have “Wow! Cool Future!”. But it also has a lot of exploration into every other part of what Cyberpunk is. This is especially so the more you deviate from the main plot. Wow…
And besides, whilst some tropes of the genre *can* be argued away as simply being of decorative value, like some sort of industry standard ... that doesn’t mean this applies to all of the signature hallmarks.
The problem as I see it these days probably has more to do with that we are living in a cyberpunk dystopia.
Even worse is its coverage. Of the 150 fast-travel spots in Night City, fewer than 20 are transit stations. For a city of 5 million people, that is a pittance.
I mean its a future Cyberpunk US city, I doubt mass transit is going to get any better. Its a very driver favoring city for a reason. To be honest when I played the game I am not even sure I knew there was a subway, I drove me car and bike everywhere
There was no conflating of the two. It is deductive reasoning. They were using the current end of service to illustrate the point that always online will inevitably have this issue and thus, ultimately has no benefit for the end user.
Ah, Exhibit A as to why “Always Online” is a really shitty thing for everyone but the publisher.
...you do realize that me not using twitter doesn’t mean others don’t, right? Just because something doesn’t come up in my person feed doesn’t mean I (and millions of others) are not affected by the actions he incites from others.
The fact the moderation is as shit as it is, and some people still get banned, tells you just how toxic those people are. They aren’t the ones you want on your platform.
Um...what? Have you seen how the GOP is run basically like a mafia family looking for Trump’s approval? Or how the entire right wing media is geared to bolster him? If you think he can’t win in 2024 without a Twitter account, wow, do I have some bad news for you.
You admit you dont follow him yet you feel he shouldn’t even be allowed there?
