It’s about total cost of ownership. Those cars will get sold eventually. Constant price cuts on new cars undercuts the value of the ones purchased earlier at higher prices.

They standardized how gearshifters moved for a REASON back in the day. I remember Audis sudden acceleration for example and We’ve all see the jokes about dog-leg shifter cars.

For the life of me, I can’t figure out why the obsession with re-inventing the gear shifter. The gear shifter as we know it basically is from the 1910s when they standardized the pedals. Stick on the steering column, dash or floor.
