don’t know if it’s the viciousness as much as it feels like a lot of the emotional/philosophical bents feel very tacked on instead of integrated more subtly (i.e. the psychiatrist portions of Pickle Rick seemed to exist for no reason than to give Pickle Rick a justification of sorts.)
