It sucks, but Blizzard has to compete with Genshin Impact levels of marginal revenue, so they’re not going to go soft on the mobile market.

Everything I’ve read/heard about the game says that the actual gameplay is really enjoyable, and if you don’t care about PVP it’s fine to play without a penny.
To be fair, Kotaku point blank refused to report on the Harry Potter game when the trailer dropped, because they take issue with the source materials author having terrible boomer takes on trans people.
I mean, between it and Polygon? I just did a ctrl+f on Polygon’s home page and “diablo” came up zero times.
And every article about this game you publish, positive or negative, helps remind people know the game exists. Obviously, these articles aren’t hurting the game, so at this point, you’re just writing these articles for the clicks and not because you actually care about the game or its harm.
Every positively-spun article Kotaku writers have written about this game have felt like an addict defensively scrambling to justify their actions. The lack of self-awareness is... not something I expected. All of them are missing the forest for the trees.
The intended audience doesn’t change that these games are predatory. You make it sound like criticism regarding the exploitation of whales is somehow platform dependent.
It is dubious because the number was originally a guess that one streamer speculated the cost would be. The news sites ran with it. That is not to say the number is too high but there is not much research behind it. It could be more or less money but, even with only minimal examination, one knows that playing end-game…
I believe it was more of “someone might spend this” kind of comment from a YouTuber’s video that got pulled out of context.
In today’s world, it only takes one bad game release to crush your reputation and destroy all good will.
Its going to be nothing like Immortal. Immortal is free 2 play. Diablo IV is going to cost 70 dollars and still be chocked full of those microtransactions everyone loves!! :)
The implicit shade being thrown at the D:I team from the D4 team and even Blizzard “lone lead” now is wild.
I’m still a bit baffled as to why people are complaining about the larger number of probably barren worlds. Fallout and Elder Scrolls both always, always, always have minor locations filled with almost nothing good or interesting, this is no different, it’s just on a larger scale.Skyrim had dozens of caves and…
I’m still sceptical about Yamato not because of what happens in the story itself (I firmly believe that everything shown in the story means Yamato is currently identifying as he/him and that’s how I refer to him as as a result) but because of how Oda functions regarding good looking female presenting characters.
Ooooooof, give me a good solid 100 worlds with some real differences or whatever over 1000 worlds with 900 of them being basically the same with maybe a different shade of atmosphere....
Fuck yeah.
Nope. Listen, I’ve loved Diablo from day 1, played Hellfire, used to wake up before school to grind for runes in D2, and enjoyed D3 post auction house, but there is no way in hell I’m downloading Immortal. Yeah, I could play for free, but number of downloads is still a metric Blizzard uses; number of “potential…
One of them was attacked for making a bad joke.
Seriously. I already grind for resources I can use for other activities. It’s called a job.
I truly hope so. I also hope people give it the fair shake it deserves. The internet as a whole seems to look for things to hate more than things to enjoy, which does leave me a bit worried about fan backlash.
