Or film children in a public bathroom. At least the ban would be shorter anyways.

Two more weeks till BlizzCon...what a complete shitshow that’s going to be...

I feel awful for all the developers, who had nothing to do with any of this and who have been working their asses off on new projects and updates to existing titles that are going to have all their work ridiculed, ignored, and sidelined

Needs to scream slurs more often too and just generally work on being a monstrous asshole by calling everyone the n-word and other various gems, those folks never seem to be taken down. We all know hate speech is cool, but don’t you fucking dare show any skin you filthy sack of shit, we won’t tolerate that! Nazi’s are

One of the biggest and worst failings of social media in general is the outright incapability, willful and otherwise, to regulate their own platforms effectively. Part of the reason Twitch even started featuring other kinds of streaming content that wasn’t exclusively about gaming was because there wasn’t enough money

too bad she didn’t try to kill people with a gun or homemade explosives, she might would have got to broadcast longer

Annnnnd now you’re whitewashing.

While Livanart is dressed as a black character with black skin, she hasn’t applied make-up or paint; her transformation into Pyke is achieved through the wearing of a prosthetic suit. Critics see this as a loophole, and that the same intent as blackface—to alter your skin colour to match that of a black person, a

Brack’s statement concerning Blitzchung’s statements “having had nothing to do with their decision” is about as full of shit as it gets. They absolutely kowtowed to China, and now they’re trying to reverse course amidst a firestorm of pushback.

Here’s the thing: corporations absolutely have the right to associate

“I will not be a smiling face on camera that tacitly endorses this decision.”

I really like the way he put this.

Ultimately, everything is political. I forget who actually said it, but the aphorism that we do not have to take an interest in politics for politics to take an interest in us is absolutely true—and it’s of vital importance to the present situation.

More importantly, Acti-Blizz (and the NBA, and South Park) took a

Wonder if they’ll fire these two hosts as well....I mean, gotta stay consistent, right?

I know it is a futile gesture but that’s it for blizzard products for me. Their quality has been steadily decreasing over the past 6 or 7 years (whenever the hearthstone cash crab or the Diablo real money market took place) and are no longer the “can’t miss always great” company they once were.

I don’t begrudge people who decide to try direct action. I cancelled my Hearthstone game with my sister tonight, just hoping Blizzard will wake up and do the right thing. But I’m afraid it’ll all be for nothing, and that’ll be one fewer of the (increasingly diminishing) big publishers I can stand to do business with.

You are super right. The best way, as a consumer, to voice your preferences is to use your wallet. There are also ways to ethically consume as well, it’s just not easy. I fully support people standing up to this behavior, both from Blizzard and from the Chinese government. Which makes this next part alot more sad.

Absolutely true, and I think most people know that. But I’d rather do a little than shrug and do nothing. So I cancelled my WoW subscription, which was pretty tough since it’s how I spend 90% of my game time since Classic came out.

And in 5-10 years Blizz can be a China-first company, if that’s what they want.  Go for

I keep seeing “vote with your wallet,” but they originally pulled this because they’re terrified of losing China as a customer base. With a billion people and a huge and growing crop of gamers, what’s stopping Activision-Blizzard from simply ignoring the percentage of people elsewhere who’ll stop playing on ethical

Well I know I’ve found my line. It’s a shame because I was really excited for Blizcon and shit but the only way businesses are going to learn to not bow to China’s authoritarian whims is if the customer base punishes them greatly for it. Some mouthbreather is probably going to come in to the comments with the tiresome

I don’t disagree with that though.

They most certainly have that right.
