You goddamn win!
You goddamn win!
I'm pissed. Thirty years of special effects and the only instance of Star Trek I see is a two second clip of the Vengeance crashing into San Francisco, five and a half minutes into this thing? Barely a dog whistle. From the franchise that can claim the FIRST instance of CGI in it (Star Trek II's Genesis presentation,…
Off the top of my head, Star Trek (and so as limit my field of fire, I'll just do TOS) has the first interracial kiss, social commentary about the Cold War and racism, is the definitive example of many TV tropes, including the Kirk (Mal), the Spock (Gina Torres' character) and the McCoy (Wash), to say nothing of the…
Oh of course not, at least not solely. And the thing is that in those other cases, I'm betting it was not a true sci-fi/fantasy heavyweight against a modern day Johnny come lately. Now with that said, I wish that it was a bit more straight with actual debate, but unfortunately, we know how it works with the Whedonites.
As long as there's carpetbagging going on, it's not a fun internet poll. They've made it serious business!
The emphasis there is "popular". There is nothing "great" about his movies or tv shows. Nothing that will stand the test of time for content unlike Star Trek which actually made a point of saying something profound almost every episode (I mean come on, we all know that 3rd season was absolute crap)
I call bullshit on Firefly beating out Star Trek. If Buffy beats out Cthulhu, then Whedon works should NEVER be included in these brackets ever again.
My next favorite part, and I wish they hadn't cut it, is when he goes "Point two?!"
Watching Linde's face clear and hearing him go "What?" has made my day. I seriously have watched that part alone at leat ten or fifteen times
As someone who lives 35 minutes away from Cleveland, kindly go fuck yourself...
Can we say gratuitous use of whiteface?
Not one good anime did TV Tokyo air during moments of serious newsworthy events.
Don't know about anyone else (like me), but as a bit of an anime geek, nothing like tossing out some Japanese to drop bombs (kuso!)
Dear Dylstew,
Because she doesn't die
You summed it up quite nicely in both senses. I was just putting the notion out there that while ems are not humans, you know some (lonely/horny/desperate) person is just going to jack right in
Is it just me, or have we taken a hard right turn into Ghost in the Shell territory? I mean, this smells like a Laughing Man-esque setup job here.
Pulp Fiction (1994)
