I can’t think of any reason an abandoned, fire-ravaged, and likely structurally unsound building would be torn down besides racism.

It wasn’t defaced; the building was demolished. The building was destroyed by a fire 6 months ago, so I can see some concern about an unstable building attracting people to be near it.
