Don't get me wrong I love this model. It maybe the greatest ship model ever built. The detail and self illumination is still un-matched. It's just something about Matt Jefferies designed 1701. It's like to American Flag, or seeing Christopher Reeves as Superman. It just the correct version!

I agree while they are all incredibly technically accurate but it may be combination of taking a real photo, using the photoshop Oil Paint filter to stylize them, and then painting over the figure from there.
