What you don’t seem to understand is these issues are actually as black and white (no pun intended) as interracial marriage. There is no way to express concern about the growing awareness of transgender issues without sounding like a bigot, because whether you realize it or not only a bigot would have a problem with

Says the one who just implied support for the anti-interracial marriage crowd.

Right, just like people didn’t believe in interracial marriage in the sixties. Easy peasy.

This story hitting a little close to home?

The same reasons people “HAVE to give a shit” about human rights, civil rights, etc... you don’t seem to have a good grasp on this issue.

Bless you for your measured response to the inevitable “stick to cars!” dope

We did it more during bad summer storms, if we lost power in the winter we lost heat as well and that was always a more pressing concern.

I grew up on well water powered by an electric pump, we absolutely did this and used the water to flush the toilet during power outages.

Those Dickerson ads are so weird. I saw one this weekend where he talks about Walter being afraid of dying. What the hell is that?

When I switched to Fios last year my TV/Internet deal included super basic cable with the option to add a “sports pack” that included ESPN channels. I think it was something like $20 more per month.

Pedant alert: these aren’t tilt shift photos.

I’m a little perplexed at the decision to drive their pollutant-spewing diesel 1500 miles to make a statement about the fact that it is spewing too many pollutants, but hey, they seem like they have a lot of free time.

It was probably between 75 and 90% full those times, so you have a point.

I live in Brooklyn too, but I rarely see Nets gear. The arena is very nice and very convenient with great transit options, I’ll give you that.

True, we love a good bandwagon around here.

Yeah, carriage fees are a huge part of the business for everyone. And while things are trending towards the on-demand viewing model I suppose live sports will be one of the natural holdouts and in fact command a premium for being one of the few things a lot of people will still watch simultaneously.

That’s interesting, so valuations are more tied to market size, not ratings. I work in national TV so I’m used to thinking about ratings as the ultimate arbiter. I don’t have the numbers but I bet the amount of people actually watching Nets games is not exactly commensurate to its valuation.

I understand that as a concept, but in reality I have no idea what that actually means.

I’ve never understood how the Nets can be worth so much money and suck so bad. Where does that valuation come from, real estate? Who’s even going to these games?

I love that it still has the number lock.
