Good analysis. But you’re missing it’s most crucial design flaw: The A and B buttons require you to move your thumb left and right to use them. Previous Nintendo controllers (and others) have you lay your thumb across the two main buttons, which is both more comfortable, more convenient, and faster.

You’re listing only triple-A titles, which of course have wider acceptance. Consider lower-budget critical successes like Gone Home, Life Is Strange, Braid, Lovers in a Dangerous Space Time.... Here, critical acclamation does not correlate to mainstream appreciation.

None of the shows listed are examples of the recent “golden age of television.” They’re all part of the current “long tail age of television,” which has different characteristics and priorities.
