I meant that if we’re taught that behaving a certain way is “civilized”, is “proper” then why wouldn’t someone want to behave in that way? Still, you’re right and you’ve articulated something that I had no words for, the fault in the system. Because it’s not about being “respectable”, it’s about having your humanity

Patrick is still around?

As a (mostly) respectable negro, who doesn’t want to show they are human, be seen as human?  For me, getting older means feeling I have less reason to playact for an audience, i have less doubt in my own worthiness, my power to demand respectful treatment.

I know i was taught to maintain respectability by my parents. Now, in my adulthood, I think it’s an approach to trying to keep yourself safe. My parents knew that the world was unfair, the system was rigged. I think they gave me the only tools that they could to help me navigate it. No one wants to tell their kid they

Who in their right mind wouldn’t at least want a plate from the cookout?

I should be completing a pressing assignment right now. Instead, I’m trying to hold in all the “Preach”, “Hallelujah” and “Mm-hhm”s that want to explode out of me. This week you are channeling my suppressed rage.

I’m happy Castro is getting some love here.  He’s doing the work, why isn’t he getting the credit?

Neither Booker nor any other non-white candidate still standing (Andrew Yang, Tulsi Gabbard) has qualified,

It was a witty play on words.  It was a thinking person’s zinger.  The fact that people latched onto it and chastised her for it is, honestly, some bullshit.

The quotes of this moment don’t do it justice. It’s the situation. She just finished making a mature, grave announcement about impeachment in a dignified manner and was about to leave. Some chud in the audience yelled an absurd question at her. The way she whipped around to chastise him gave me flashbacks to when your

I liked that Joe also has the photo library to show him with great powers and getting greeted well internationally from his time as VP. He has shots where he gets the trappings of being president (like coming off the official plane) and highlights how much better he looks doing it.

The undecideds are a small group.  Pandering to them does nothing except cause candidates to water down their actual agendas and eventually have nothing get done.  Forget them.  Give the Democratic base a reason to actually go to the polls, to actually believe their vote will change things.  That’s how one wins.

This is the reason I liked one of Harris’s ads so much. She called Trump a liar and a predator. There’s no defense for the things he puts out into the world. We’ve become desensitized in a lot of way I think by the daily drama, but ads that give you cringe-worthy, embarrassing moment after moment of this man, must

I’m a baddass, I swear, but that film. Wow. *sniff sniff*

I understand the desire to take it slow, to make the evidence overwhelming, I do. I would even agree with you if I had any remaining faith in the median intelligence of the electorate. I would imagine the trial in the Senate is going to take a very long time considering the Republicans want to call everyone who’s ever

I completely agree!

She made the day for me. Sexy, sexy brain on her.

Those are the people for whom the simple articles of impeachment are being written. Obstruction, abuse of power (using simple, everyday metaphors), those are simple to understand.

I think doing it over the course of years makes one ignore each detail. Trials are boring. A quick, laser strike is all that gets attention. Gives less time for manufacturing a conspiracy and intimidating witnesses.

That’s been happening to me, too,  a disturbing amount lately.
