The first to conceive system results in sometimes years of litigation... and a ton of money spent... trying to prove who was the first. I think the first to file is the lesser of the two evils. But, as is the case in most walks of life... those with money to burn usually come out ahead.

This company is a joke... smoke and mirrors. I can’t wait for it to implode.

The title is very misleading. The substrate is silicon... the lasing material is InAs/GaAs. The authors of the paper were careful not to use this wording (“Electrically pumped continuous-wave III–V quantum dot lasers on silicon”). The novelty is growing the quantum dots directly on silicon, as opposed to bonding a

Adopting a child in the US already takes many thousands AND a long time. The system is broken. That’s why so many couples go out of country.

You don’t think the woman that is very likely to be running this country next year should chime in? Or is this another ‘elect me to find out my opinion’:

No, we vote for people based on their approaches, opinions, etc... that person should be willing to fight (figuritively) for those beliefs (but, ideally be able to compromise). If the politician bends to the will of the poll, he/she is inherently flip-floppy (that’s a technical term).

True. But come on, if this were the Koch brothers the interwebs would be in an uproar.

Agreed. I do NOT want this man as president... but they act as if he is somehow magically leading the Republican race. He’s leading because a ton of people are voting for him. How about address WHY these folks feel the need to vote for an outsider like Trump. Trump is the symptom of a much bigger problem.

I love how the first paragraph is supposed to get us all worked up about the horrors thus far... I read it and was like “Ok, where is the bad stuff?” Walking during work hours and going through security... the horror... oh, the horror!

I thought the tomato was the gold standard for toothbrush testing :-/

Richard Proenneke is the true authority on this. I bought his DVDs and book a while back after learning about him:

A cloak (which has been demonstrated at various frequencies, even visible for small bands) doesn’t absorb... it uses transformation optics to alter the index in such a way that the light passes around the object... minimally affected. The difficulties are: 1) scaling to visible (unit cell needs to be a fraction of the

You could interpret it this way. There is a perfect vacuum in the container... plus some air. If you let the air out of the vacuum... you are left with a vacuum. :-)

My attempted editing, as you call it, was to point out the fact that your point (#2) is 1) obvioius and 2) redundant.

An engine IS a motor. I get so tired of “If it burns fuel it is an engine, not a motor.”

Thanks for the references! I learned something.

I could see being surprised by how it taxied... but once you saw that, it’s obvious which direction it would fly. Unless you skipped the taxiing bit :-)
