I’m saying that an engineer needs to know, e.g. , cycles to failure or tensile strength, etc... and physics cannot accurately predict such things in real materials. A physicist can model ‘simple’ things: atoms, nuclei, splitting nuclei, even nuclear reactions... but try to model 10^24 atoms in an imperfect crystal

An underquilt attaches to the under side of the hammock... thus you don’t put weight on it (the hammock holds the weight) and the quilt maintains 100% of its loft. There are several cottage manufactures of underquilts... pick your poison... most of them are great.

Yet 1st principles materials modeling is in its infancy. And defects are the most difficult thing to include in such modeling... and guess what, the defects are almost always what really define the macroscopic material properties. I have a physics degree and PhD in materials science... so, no, not just ‘talking out of

And, there you go:

Then don’t bid. Simple.

But ‘barely even browned’ is waaaay too hot for your hand.

My dog would have torn up that steak! Good dog :-)

Cooked properly, a sirloin is top notch. Don’t get snooty.

The near side of the moon is ‘unphotographable’ from earth. Even the Hubble Telescope, if imaging the moon, would have a resolution of greater than 100 meters (closer to 200m)! You ain’t gonna see much with that.

Any self-respecting engineer would never take a physicist’s word for it. Physicists deal in orders of magnitude, trends, theory. Engineers deal in absolutes (the devil’s in the details). Try it before you buy it!

Get a down underquilt and don’t look back.

As mentioned, they have plans. But in the real world, some things are simply impossible. Some things cannot be done... e.g. stopping an enormous leak like this.

What I learned from this experience is simple: most AUTOMOBILE owners don’t care what they need. They care only what they want.

Blogging about a product is inherently biased. If you read someone’s review about a product, do you really expect to get an unbiased review? Is there such a thing? Isn’t a review, by nature, biased toward the writer’s viewpoint?

“Journalists...”

Definitely has a Psycho vibe to it.

The Saudis’ increased output was, in part, a response to US persuing alternative sources of energy (domestic / Canada)... AND our interest in EV autos. They see the writing on the wall... and will do all they can to keep us addicted to oil.

Wrong. You can absolutely let someone go even with tenure if they violate policy. They kept him because he’s a big name I would guess.

Exactly. People praise self-driving (and -flying) tech... but then complain when it becomes the norm. This is the way the future will work... welcome it or board yourself in your house and yell at clouds.

If I can’t wash and dry it, I don’t buy it. I DO separate whites, darks and towels... but other than that, it’s a free for all.
