They’ll get paid more but they’ll be less riders, because the price of Uber will go up, so they’ll probably end up making the same before Uber goes out of business from not being competive with taxis. Then they’ll have no jobs.

Don’t drivers determine their work hours? If so how are they not contractors?
We are 100% in agreement here. I’m actually looking at trading one of my cars for an e36 M3, I know it’s the weak american motor but it’s in beautiful condition, and I have an acquaintance who has owned one from 0 miles til now at~ 200k. He knows everything about the car. He knows what parts he has to replace on an…
This is the myth I’m trying to clear up. I feel you are completely discounting design. It’s simply not all the same, and it matters, it’s not an even playing field. You don’t put sensitive electronics in the spare tire well of a car, everyone knows rear trunk seals can and do leak, as well as opening your trunk in the…
I’m not discounting BMWs as junk. I’ve been to Munich, and the countrysides around it, it was crazy hard to find a BMW older than 4 years driving around on the streets. I don’t think those cars are designed to do 8 years 100k miles. I don’t think that’s a requirement of where they’re built and engineered. But we live…
The aftermarket support for the 1uzfe is much greater in New Zealand, and I believe Australia. At least in New Zealand, the 1UZFE is basically their LS, you can get cams, valve train work etc...There is a video of someone running around with a 10k rpm 1uzfe with ITBs on it.
There is a Russian guy named Yuri that specializes in modifying the 1uz ecu to remove immobilizer, raise rpm limit, and remove the auto issues so it can be run with a manual transmission. You can find him on his Facebook group, I’ve ordered from him before it’s good stuff.
What Toyota motors are you specifically seeing at 200k miles that have worn rings?
His assists are a mirage. They’re still one of the lowest passing teams in the league and he’s their point guard. Also, didn’t someone quote last year a large majority of his assistant were just tossing the ball to Adams under the hoop.
Hey, you have every right to your choices. I truly believe that. I’m just tired of BMW owners hiding behind “preventative” maintenance as an excuse for saying their car is reliable. It’s misleading, I can keep any car running if I keep throwing money at it regardless of how poorly designed it is, it doesn’t mean the…
Mercury Metallic
BMWs are unreliable. Quite a lot of them are poorly designed. The only difference is people who drive them like regular cars break down from those design problems, and then people who are knowledgeable about them do preventative maintenance so they don’t break down. If I swap out the rod bearings on my e92 M3 before…
Funny I was thinking the same thing. And I’m also someone who just bought and ISF. Lol
The 2zzge swap is about as straightforward as swaps go, and you can’t find much that fits the profile of a 2zzge swapped MR2. You can even just buy a jumper harness to plug your old harness into the 2zzge ECU and everything works. You’re talking 190hp with under 2200 pounds(with a 1/8 tank of gas).
Why are you worried that people will think you have a fancy car? If you like it drive it, if you don’t, drive something else.
I’m not sure I agree with that. Do you have some data to back this up?
“We’re realists at Jalopnik. And a realist has to ask if you’d rather have a stock M550i and used rear-drive manual shift thrasher car, or this 5 Series with about $25,000 in upgrades. If you asked me that, I’d have to opt for the two-car solution.”
Drive one with a 2zzge in it and you might change your mind. I didn’t feel anything for the car til I got a great deal on one and bought it. I believe it’s easily one of the most underrated cars you can buy.
“Manufacturers should publish life-of-vehicle service cost estimates alongside life-of-vehicle fuel cost estimates.” Never going to happen, this would affect a lot of the luxury brand’s sales.
There are performance and fuel economy tricks that are gained by using Port and Direct injection, it’s not just for solving this problem. Both injection types operate differently at different engine speeds. Also every 100k? My boss has to have his Audi done every 30k and it’s not a cheap job, it’s considered regular…
