I’m going to dissect this bullshit one bit at a time:

I remember at least one TOH project that just ran out of money. They were like halfway done, and they just pulled up stakes and said “well, good luck”. I think they might have gotten sued over it.

It’s especially frustrating when you can’t find something on the webz that you KNOW happened (or maybe even published yourself). Then again, it’s a marvel to come across old filmed footage somehow rescued and preserved. It wouldn’t surprise me if you end up finding it still.

great news. i was lucky to get a photo put in the High School Year Book dvd edition.

Hahaa! I’m surprised that they televised that part. Sounds like there was a serious failure of communication.

I agree, that’s a fantastic story about a really fun interview, and I hope 2018 has a lot more Random Roles. I’m impressed by the number of times interviewees have said without prompting that they’re pleased by suprising details they’re asked about. I know that celebs get glazed over by all of the repetitive questions

That’s pretty awesome! Glad to know Elvis was impressed by your knowledge and you could get as much in as you did. Thanks for putting out the most consistently entertaining feature on the site, Will.

Since I know a lot of readers enjoy the behind-the-scenes moments, here’s how this interview went down:

“Sorry, Mr. Costello, I have to interrupt this interview in order to mention a lot of arcane Comic Strip trivia or else one dude on the internet is going to be PISSED.”

Awesome: in a last-second bid to up 2017’s descent level of shittiness, I get my very own troll.

Not really sure why you’re so up in arms about the fact that I didn’t mention a number of specifics that weren’t relevant to the conversation at hand, but for what it’s worth, I am well familiar with The Comic Strip, having watched the episodes when MTV aired them on Sunday evenings back in the late ‘80s. But the fact

He’s my favorite musician but Elvis has amassed a pretty impressive acting resume too. The only ones that I didn’t see here that sticks out to me is playing himself in the finale of 3rd Rock From the Sun (he sings Fly Me to the Moon, appropriate for the show and for his crooning period at the time, and bites down on a

I want to applaud just reading this story. You must have amazing memorization skills.

I got that far....and did it one better. I beat it at the height of the popularity.

Lots of folk in my town had the initials F U & K, for some strange reason.

The high score name bugged me too! And another thing, MADMAX may be Dig Dug champ in Hawkins, but in my town, ASS owns the high score on every game.

You could beat it but it was ridiculously expensive to do so. I think I spent like $80 (this was 1983 so that was A LOT of money for a 14 year old kid) before I finally got the steps and the timing (the timing was the tricky part).

I’m 54 year old. Tom Petty and his music have been a constant in my life since I’m 13. I’ve worn out his records and seen him perform more times than I can count. He never quit. He has a new album and just finished a tour — he never became a “play the greatest hits at the county fair” guy.
