Oh Pujols! He really needs to retire; what he’s doing to his career rate numbers should be illegal. To think he used to be a career.330+ hitter with an OPS above 1.000. I predict if he plays his contract out he’ll drop below .300 and then he can join the Mickey Mantle club of ‘guys who are .300 hitter but actually

Harden is also averaging near 6 turnovers a game. He set the single season record last year, and this year he’s gonna obliterate it by maybe 100! He could finish with nearly 500 turnovers! That’s insane.

Yes but it’s not his works that will be lost, he’ll be the one destroying them. It’s Obama’s legacy that will fall first, then Trump’s. Liberal Democracy is Ozymandias.

I’m no Harold Bloom but I do believe in the mentally (though not necessarily morally) edifying powers of reading. As Trump is installed I’m sure Shelley’s Ozymandias will be ringing through my head the entire weekend.

But look on the bright side, depending on your age, everyone smarter than you has already been born and will eventually die before you. Thanks Betsy!

Via b-ref: he’s having the second highest scoring season of anyone who’s played less than 26 minutes a game. The first? Michael Jordan’s second season, in which he played only 18 games. Embiid has already played 28.

Yeah I never get this. There’s no one alive who freed any slaves, just as there’s no one alive who wrote any of our founding documents. The only white people I owe anything, other than the ones who bumped genitals and created me, died long ago. But I guess if makes you feel better about yourself...

Over-under on number of books Der Cheeto finishes: one. One book.

I think Trump is virtually impossible to satirize. Something should have at least a minimum level of sincerity and conviction so that it can be ridiculed. I find absolutely none of that with Trump. He’s completely nebulous and erratic, there’s nothing consistent whatsoever except that it all comes from the same fucked

Does it matter? Perception is reality. Americans own so much shit we have to put it into storage facilities. We literally have places to store shit we don’t even use and may not even want, but own it because ‘hey it’s not gonna own itself’. So much economic insecurity.

It’s decadence. We’ve quit pretending to have even some moral or cultural superiority and went straight to - “We have the biggest guns so let’s just do whatever the fuck we want.” We’ve always thought that, but we were smart and modest enough to never actually say it out loud, in unison. It’s a brand new world.

What’s happening is not giving someone the biggest megaphone possible now falls under the category of political correctness. Not only should we tolerate his views, which is all that should be expected of anyone, we should also make sure his views reach the largest audience. Not doing so would somehow hinder his speech

A problem with this I think is that tolerance doesn’t necessarily entail respect, which is a belief I think most people need to disabuse themselves of. I view tolerance as exactly and simply tolerating an action, which doesn’t mean having to respect it, just tolerating it. Just because I’m not actively stopping you

I can’t not watch these and think: GINOBILI!!!!

I think they wouldn’t know what to do with themselves if they didn’t have all these boogeymen to fear and hate. The strangest part is that they continue to patronize things they claim to dislike. I have a hard-right uncle who loves watching The Big Bang Theory and sci-fi. It doesn’t make any sense to me. His idea of

Why doesn’t someone just come out and say “Everybody’s fucking everybody!” and just be done with this whole charade? I mean truthfully who fucking cares anymore, this country runs on tabloids and scandals, the idea that there are enough prudes in this country who could collectively gasp loud enough that the dumb fucks

I don’t doubt it. Casual racism is alive everywhere, especially in wealthier circles.

Well then get them to throw their weight around and let’s see those tapes. :)

Either way it really combats the idea of Hollywood being in the pocket of some liberal cabal. Certainly the talent leans liberal, as we see with Arnold and Rapaport, but the producers and the higher-ups, not so much.

I remember reading somewhere that McHale had an 8 foot wingspan. That can’t be right, right?
