I’ll concede that using production cars may not be the answer. Though maybe they could borrow a few tricks from the DTM bag and at least make the cars look like something you could buy. They’re moving in the right direction with the livery changes and making the front ends look more production-y.
I would normally agree with this sentiment, but would it be really that interesting? I feel that would have the end result of the companies making homologation specials. Hell that started to happen with the Gran Torino Talladega (coolest muscle car btw), and the Superbird/Daytona.
I understand the spirit of what your saying, but there is literally nothing from a showroom stock car that is suitable to run 200 mph for 500 miles with any reasonable level of safety if their involved in a crash (not that it ever happens). I agree, I would like to see more representation on the track by manufacturers…
What you want is SCCA racing. Showroom stock is pretty much what you buy at a dealership plus safety equipment. The GT classes are real cars with varying degrees of modification.
I love NASCAR almost as much as I hate Trump. Him being there did not bother me at all. I even found myself trying to be mad about it, couldn’t do it. A guy with a bad fake tan and much younger wife at Daytona is basically the mascot of central Florida.
Clint Bowyer showed how true this is yesterday. Hung in the back the entire race and kept himself out of the wrecks. Slowly moved up in the last 40 laps and with a little bit of luck avoided the big one by inches. Finished 6th.
Yeah, a lot of people think like you do. Including me.
And this is only good as long as Sanders isn’t the democratic candidate. I say that AS a democrat. If my choice is Bernie or Trump, I’m voting Trump. I’ll take 4 more years of cashing in and retire and not worry about it. Oh and I won’t even be 40 by that point.
Ryan Newman probably wouldn’t be alive if they did it “just like old times”. Being a purpose built race car has more benefits then just speed. Also, everybody says this, but doesn’t realize how boring it would be watching the same car win by 3 laps every weekend. Spec cars make it competitive, something that is far…
I barely watch any NASCAR now, but that’s mostly due to the stupid “stage racing” nonsense and not really caring about any of the front-running drivers. If either of those were to be fixed, I’d probably still watch it in spite of the political stance of most of the fans and participants.
I would legit LOVE NASCAR if they went closer to their roots. No more of these cars that only vaguely look like what you can buy in a showroom. Why not get actual showroom models and soup them up for racing, just like old times?
I haven’t watched NASCAR in years, not because of the politics, but because it’s boring as sin. My dad LOVES NASCAR but he always falls asleep on the couch after a few laps, then awakes for the last 20 or so.
The flyovers are good Ash
Baseball and Premiership football are the cheating sports; try to keep up.
I’m a lefty and I watch NASCAR — not in a dedicated way, but I do like the big races. I have to just look at it as racing and appreciate the racing for the spectacle that it is. There’s real skill on the track and the amount of technical work that goes into setup and tuning for each race makes it very interesting.…
Of my friends and acquaintances who are Democrats, I have yet to find one who watches NASCAR. So I guess I’m in the minority.
Wah. Another whiny Democrat.
90% of the race is pointless now. The sectors and yellow flag pit stops eliminate any point in racing until the last 10 laps or so. There is no point fighting for the lead or fighting to pull ahead when you are guaranteed to lose all progress in a few laps.
TL,DR: Trump held a rally and a NASCAR race broke out,
