Agreed. Gonna have to keep an eye out for one in the junkyard. They do turn up there from time to time. According to Polk, there are still about 1,800 on the road.

I work for one of the aftermarket automotive information providers and we do have TSBs going back that far. I looked and couldnt find any TSBs relating to the hardtop window. There is one from 1990 on the movable quarter glass and another one the same year about weatherstrips on the hardtop but nothing I can see

Yup.  I went from “ehh, maybe close to 10" until the stickers got added and then it was “not even for 7".  Being stupid should hurt.  At least a little.

Yep.  That’s my biggest problem with the whole thing.  I could see this in the $7-9K range but those decals knock it down to $5K TOPS.  If I bought this thing, the first thing I would do is pick off the stickers in the guys driveway and flick the bits at him.

Saw a dead mint Isuzu Impulse on I-5 about a year and a half ago - just before the pandemic hit. Missed my exit to catch back up to it to make sure I did see what I thought I saw.

Kinja: You’ve broken everything else lately, go ahead and remove the Reply button for the day. ^^Nothing can beat this.^^

True, but once the tinworm gets a foothold - the constant moisture and humidity takes its toll.  Grew up there and our 620 Datsun rusted everywhere a scratch or dent broke the paint.  My dad was an awful driver.

They do!

If you want a road tripper, its hard to beat a Clown Car - however the last generation, particularly the extended-length L model has this beat by a mile. I had a 2005 I picked up in the SF bay area after regulations made them too old to be used to pick up passengers at SFO. Fantastic car with 8" of extra leg room that

I use diesel fuel in my Harbor Fraught solvent tank.  Works great and much less wiffy than gasoline.

Yeah, in the 90's and 00's, that was a pretty good rule of thumb. Bags went off, there was so much damage that the car was done for.

I’m in the collision repair field and while airbags are a big thing, the biggest is the proliferation of high and ultra high strength steel. The higher the strength, the less you can do with it. Old cars with mild steel structures you could heat the mangled parts and straighten them out with no loss in tensile

Can confirm. I bought a 15 year old Subaru Loyale with 50K on it. Had been taken care of but started puking oil from every gasketed surface when I took it from going to church and the grocery store once a week to a 30 mile daily freeway speed commute.

I have been through the California “Salvage Title” process and it’s pretty laughable really. You need:

My kids and I spent an overnighter on the Jeremiah O’Brien with the Boy Scouts years ago - what a cool experience. Always wanted to take a cruise on it - I’m a bit jealous.

My grandfather was the Chief Engineer on an Exxon supertanker until the late 70s when he retired. One of my greatest memories and probably the one that made me a true jalop was getting to spend a couple days aboard when it sailed up the west coast to Bremerton, WA. I was 7 or 8 and it just exploded my little kid brain

You know whats going on down in the Bermuda Triangle, down in the Bermuda Triangle?

I would agree with you to an extent on a rental from a major company, but a startup like this?  Unless it comes with a full history, no way - especially at this price.
