Chloë Grace Moretz just made a new fan. I thought she was a good actress previously, but now I also like her.

They appropriate exclusivity. They’re cliques!

I agree, but Moore’s statement had nothing to do with that, WTA brings in nowhere near the money and men’s tennis provides this cushion.

It seems to me that this term is being used to describe the style of food, not to glorify subjugation. I’m not sure how else it would be described and still convey the concept. I’ve admittedly never been to the place, but somehow I suspect it isn’t decorated with whips and manacles.

You genuinely think this is an important conversation? This isn’t someone trying to re-imagine anything as a happy meeting of cultures - they’re not saying that this period of time was particularly beneficial or amazing for some cultures; hell, it doesn’t even look like they reference the colonialism in any aspect

I think I have a tendency to be un-outraged. Sometimes I wonder why I still read Jez because so many of the stories seem handpicked for people who need something to be mad at. There are plenty of real, rage inducing stories out there, and they are often covered here. But it seems like there’s a lot more of this faux

Honestly, the most shocking thing about this is that Madonna has fans that are 17 years old

What if it is waxed though?

Taking umbrage at targeted marketing on an ad-supported website that targets a specific demographic?

I remember every time I watched UPN back in the day I’d see commercials for some of the same products advertised on NBC, ABC, etc, just with black actors. This is definitely not new, and the internet age has just made it easier to find different versions of ads for different demographics.

So you don’t actually know and are making what you consider an “educated guess” because the writing team is fully indicative of an in-house marketing team?

Why? Nobody cares that they market to men and women differently, or old and young, or gay and straight, or california and Nebraska, or white and blue collar, or any other demographic difference that you care to mention. Though I haven’t noticed it at the movie trailer level before.

Why is it “shitty”? It’s simply targeted marketing. I don’t get why it would be either good or bad, morally. The purpose of marketing is to sell product and targeted marketing does so effectively (as seen by the success of Straight Outta Compton’s success).

I always figured it was standard practice. Niche marketing has always been a thing

Why is this shitty?

Marketing that targets certain demographics is not new. Marketing that is adjusted for different markets isn’t new either.

Why is it “shitty”?

But still pretty accurate I bet.

They’re both sexist assholes. The dad has two daughters who weren’t “good enough” for him and a son who will have the absurd pressure of being a suitable heir. The mom apparently wanted very little to do with a son and only wanted custody of any potential daughters. And somehow wanted to replace the person she once
