As far as Alicia goes, I don’t think she was cutting herself. My impression was that she was trying to tattoo/scar/something the design that her boyfriend had drawn on her arm, since we saw her stroking it early in the episode, and it was pretty faded, and the motions looked more like pricks than slashes.
