No it isn't. Some of the information sent to a webserver when you connect includes browser, version number of said browser, and OS information, such as type, version etc.

My mother just got a Lumia 900. My guess is that she personally won't care about not being able to upgrade, but it annoys me, we just got it in May.
I would like to see a better browser. Compared to iOS' safari, it renders horribly.
