Because it would have been too much fan pressure and love for a hero that would have made it harder to suck for a while as the Cubs rebuilt a whole system. As much as I love Ryno (signed baseball on my shelf) and would love to see him back in Chicago, it was probably wise not to bring him here when he was available.
