Thank you! It’s definitely not nit-picking, in the legal advocacy world we always use strangulation because that’s what the felony charge is. Choking and strangulation are two different things and it’s so lethal.

A reminder and personal pet peeve: choking is when something obstructs your airway from inside your throat; strangulation is when the obstruction is external. Strangulation sounds scarier which is why I think people tend to say choke but this is horrific and should be described accurately.
