Hi.. Good ideas.. This is Howie from the actual Kickstarter.. It actually wont work with female side down.. You need to have the cavity on the bottom, and the top pressing into it, to make it work consistently and to be able to build with them

I played with prototype with daughter and she built some of the structures.. Its a lot of fun.. The heating element is stronger than a normal waffler to get them to be strong enough to support interlocking weight

You make good points. Unfortunately you can’t put the female plate cant be on the bottom or batter would leake out. has to be an open cavity where top presses into it.
