I mean, I’ve heard this theory repeated over and over again after the election, without anyone presenting a compelling case that Democrats in races that are meaningfully tough, such as Claire McCaskill, Heidi Heitkamp or Joe Manchin would improve their chances by sounding a lot more like Maxine Waters.
