Yes, that is a better graph (thanks for sharing), but, no, it doesn’t really paint a completely different picture. Both graphs show a steady rise in passengers, coupled with a steady decline in TSA staffing.

LOL @ extolling the virtues of the private sector in a post about airlines.
The original post implies that “the private sector” is inherently “better.” I would disagree with that contention—it’s mere self-interest.
I’m fine with that. My kids would probably end up with the slew of mental issues that I and my family have struggled with our whole lives so maybe that’s a sign I should just stop it here. Besides, I’m a little selfish and don’t want to have to truncate my life’s enjoyments to ensure that I give enough time and money…
Welcome to why laissez-faire capitalism doesn’t work and regulations are necessary.
So freedom of speech is just for the kochs’s, the bundy’s, the tumps’s and other gop trash?
I’m for neither “big” nor “small” government. I just want it to work efficiently for maximum public benefit. Being the seat of power, though, has made the U.S. government ripe for corruption. Right now, it seems to be “small” in all the wrong places, while simultaneously “big” in...also all the wrong places.
Large swaths of the government ARE underfunded, pathetically so. Other parts, like the military and federal law enforcement, are absurdly over-budgeted.
You can claim it’s not underfunding, but the numbers just don’t add up in reality.
Dude, thank you for saying this. You are right. Is the TSA a government agency that sucks balls? Yes. It was also a government agency that was started in a moment of fearful zeal post-9/11 by a conservative administration heavily backed by those who would, exactly as you say, obstruct government from functioning…
‘Enjoy’ it while it lasts. Some douche bag billionaire thiel is trying to sue Gizmodo’s parent site into oblivion.
It is my choice, and my SO supports it. I love children a lot actually, and I’ve always wanted to have them because I love them so much. However, it’s that love that is making me not subject the fruit of my loins to the messed up situation we’re creating. It’s better this way I think.
The private sector acts solely in its own interest, nothing more and nothing less. It’s not much of a surprise that Delta would want to get paying customers in more efficiently, just as it’s not much of a surprise that Walmart and Amazon treat their employees like cattle.
Or maybe airlines can bring back free bag check? Just a thought because a lot of people these days are bringing a carry on luggage and those slow down the line a lot.
I’m glad you keep reporting about this, it’s important to make environmental issues as visible as possible to people around the world.
Victimized straight white conservative men, who have it harder in life than anyone else these days.
More toddlers than police officers are shot per year. Maybe we need special protections for toddlers?
Awful people have great marketing.
This is ridiculous. There are already harsher sentences for crimes against police officers, as the article points out.
Ugh...
