It’s not just about a political advantage- it’s about what’s good for the country. A president who will fuck up making the country worse and get little done in that regard is better than a president who will actively work to make the country worse successfully.

I think it’s the fact that those circumstances are unlikely to be repeated that makes Pence and Ryan more dangerous than Trump. Pence and Ryan, for all of their faults, have always been able to present themselves as reasonable Republicans. It’s a matter of performance, not policy, which is what matters to the media.

Actually I think if anyone’s going to use it effectively for political gain, it’ll be centrist Democrats, who have already offloaded a lot of the blame onto Sanders supporters.

I think the more compelling characters, for romance, actually would have been some of the guys this time. Mishima in particular, especially with his name.

I’d argue the opposite- America entered into it on the condition that the US could set its own targets and they’d be non-binding. So the agreement is entirely at the mercy of the sitting government, but Democrats are acting like it’s the biggest deal in the world that Trump’s doing away with the pretense.

Can’t wait for this to come out.
