By what measure have the Lakers been better at building a contending team? The best drafted assets they have are Ingram, who is far from a sure thing, and Kuzma, who is a great second-round steal but probably a 6th-7th man on a contending team. The rest of their team is Lebron and a bunch of fading role players with

I understand being pro-player but this take is way too black and white. Other than appeasing a guy who has made his distaste for your franchise very clear, there’s absolutely no incentive for them to trade him right now (whether to his preferred destination or not). This isn’t just a fuck you from the Pelicans - they h

Imagine being that broadcast and having to feign that kind of enthusiasm for this shit. Pretty admirable job actually

That’s the biggest thing working against him NFL-wise. That being said, there are plenty of sub-par QBs (Dan Orlovsky is the firs that comes to mind) who manage to hang around for 10+ years in the NFL, making damn good money without doing much outside of holding a clipboard.

Who praised him on this one? Not trying to be combative, just actually haven’t seen any of that BS this time around.

Not a great start for Luis, and he’s not engaging in the discussion the way most DS writers do. Do better!

I don’t know - that actually seems like a reasonable explanation to me. I’m American and not a soccer fan - does he have any history of racist of Anti-Semitic statements/views? Any social media activity that shows he backs extreme right-wing candidates or parties?

I used to live in Yosemite (Boys Town ‘04 stand up) and you wouldn’t believe the level of ignorance in the main tourist areas. There are literally entire populations of squirrels, bear and deer that survive purely off discarded human food and idiots who ignore the “Do Not Feed” signs.

This is just born out of the holiday slowdown. I dislike ESPN but every media outlet is rehashing stories this time of year. It’s often packaged as some kind of Top 10 or “what to look for in *insert next year*” kind of bullshit.

Eh. You’re not wrong and ESPN has some shady practices but this is pretty standard practice at media outlets around the holidays. There’s really nothing going on and it’s rude to bother your sources so you just regurgitate some old reporting and package it as some kind of “what might happen next year?” bullshit.

Yes i realize that their use of the absolute is technically inaccurate. Sometimes we have to generalize in order to get our point across (i.e. America is a racist society - or is that erasing non-racist Americans?)

*SIGH* Yes, ther are pockets of every culture in the world here in the U.S., that may be aware of things from their homeland that most others would not. I’m second-generation Irish and I don’t expect people to know who Eileen Ivers or Liam Clancy are. If I say most Americans don’t know who those people are, am I

You’re reaching. Maybe not ALL AMERICANS but it’s not inaccurate at all to say that most of us, regardless of race or background, are effectively unaware of any pop culture that doesn’t originate in the English-speaking world.

“The writer, Mariah Smith, is black, but the Cut’s editors, and their perspective, are mostly white...”

That’s true and nobody is arguing that a young staff should get paid enough to buy a house in Chevy Chase. However if it pays so little that only people with family financial backing and/or connections, then we’re on the fast track toward a full-blown plutocracy (if we’re not there already).

The Deadspin-Barstool feud is entertaining but we’re getting pretty far into the weeds here.

Serena is an amazing athlete who deserves to be honored for her career accomplishments. Hate to say this but I could appreciate this much more if we were a little further removed from her behavior at the U.S. Open, which was - despite a couple of yes, really bad calls - an absolute abomination from a sportsmanship pers

Lol wow - NJ resident but I don’t watch enough TV to have seen this. Menendez is an absolute ethical disaster, and NJ Dems really deserve to lose for not putting him out to pasture already. But appealing to feminism is kind of a tough sell when the alternative is just going to be another acolyte for Grab Em By the

Yeah I agree - the use of the word “soul” is cringeworthy in the most Kay way possible but other than that it was a pretty reasonable argument. I was expecting much worse.

That reaction to the crowd during the Benintendi at-bat was so so egregious and obvious. That should literally be disqualifying for an MLB umpire
