don’t act like the theater is some magnanimous entity for telling people who had lost children, partners, friends, and mobility that $2,000 was generous enough.

Part of the state law about the loser paying court costs is that all parties have to have been clearly informed of that fact. They went ahead with the suit anyway, knowing that risk. Lots of sympathy for their original ordeal, not so much for failing to try to scrape some money out of an innocent party after the fact.

I feel like the blame should really go on the scumbag lawyers that convinced these people to sue the theater.

They offered then a pretty good settlement considering they were found not liable already and were clearly not at fault. And the plaintiffs didn’t take it.

Actually, people of ALL races are really bad at telling people from a race different than theirs apart. Black people are way worse at identifying white people and Asian people in photos, as opposed to identifying other black people.
