Sadly, yes. No recourse either. The medical system here is ruthless in pursuing any debt, no matter how small. And probably no legal recourse other than to show a judgement against the perpetrator.

If the person sued *has* money, then yes. But chances are they have no money anyway so... a lawsuit does nothing. Making assumptions here (large ones), but apartment complex and no insurance probably means they don’t have any large assets that can be put to lien, so a lawsuit judgement would result with pending…
