This is a phenomenally bad plan. The LotR movies weren’t that long ago and they are one of, if not the, best movie trilogies ever made. It’s going to be constantly compared to the movies, and it isn’t going to come out favorably in that matchup. I mean, they might get some terrific actors and do some really fantastic

I think the big battle in the third movie is the most at risk of looking dated, as they really pushed the envelope there. The first two kept a lot of their VFX risks to dark and rainy locations.

having recently just shown that trilogy to somebody for the first time, we may have a looong wait. miniature-heavy sfx just don’t age.

Look, the films simplified certain elements, mischaracterised Faramir’s story, and got rid of the Scouring of the Shire (yes, I really love that part and think it’s a crucial part of the hobbits’ arc), but it also captured a lot of what made the novels fantastic, and the casting and production design were pretty much

Too soon. Way way too soon. Wait until the PJ movies look dated, so give it another 15 years minimum.

Maybe it’ll just fill in the scenes that got cut from the movies. The first season will just be Tom Bombadil endlessly singing.

I mean...ok. Because the fucking Lord of the Rings isn’t long enough as it is. We need to turn 5/6 books into 50-60 hours of content.

“People have died and will always die.”

I like how the usual rebuttal is about how “Climate is always changing.” As if that somehow negated the rate at which climate is changing. It’s NOT that the climate is changing (that is changing all the time, yes), it’s simply changing far faster than anything ever recorded or measured outside of known

Good. I’ve never wanted to see another human suffer before, but he definitely deserves all the suffering.

No. Don’t do this.

From what I can gather it’s either a) there were no death threats and he made them up to distract everyone from how bad his team is, or b) there were death threats and he didn’t respond properly (say, by notifying law enforcement that people’s lives might be in danger).

How do death threats enable them to fire him with cause?

the quickness with which she popped back up, got back to the net, and made another diving play the next time the ball was in their court is also very easy to overlook.

Athletes’ physical grace always awes me (as I have none). Check out her form as she does this. She’s poised and her body posture indicates she’s totally in command of her movement. Everything she is doing looks like it was intentionally executed rather than just being desperate flailing that luckily paid off.

Not to mention that she jumped to avoid stepping on her teammate before she was in a position to make a play on the ball. I didn’t notice it until I watched the reverse angle

Incredible play, especially because she was at the net when the play began. This video alone should swing a scholarship.

Then check out a close-up of the most important part

Should be easy to find out if it’s him. It’s clearly an Ariel photograph.
