Yeah that's how the CM one works too I believe. However if your phone doesn't have multi-colred LEDs for the notification buttons, and most don't, it's a fairly moot point.

Cyanogen Mod still has options for it or at least CM9 did, haven't checked in 10 since my phone doesn't have colored LEDs as is the case with most phones.
