I just had a Durango for a week while out in Seattle. The start stop is indeed frustrating but was easily turned off. Are other models not able to turn off this feature?

Except the video you posted is from a time when NHL arenas used actual glass. Not plexiglass. Plexiglass does not shatter like tempered glass.
I don’t think they break very often. They do come dislodged from the stanchions after being hit really hard though. The idea that plexiglass could stop car debris is a joke. I’m sure an engineer could come up with something thick/strong enough but to call it cost prohibitive would be an understatement.
I’ll do you one better. I’ll share a personal experience. I watched two assholes tell a woman she wasn’t allowed in the woman’s bathroom based on a hair style and loosely fitting clothing. The individual immediately left with another woman.
