You rarely get entire roads covered in a sheet of ice, it has to rain a ton then temps have to drop dramatically (just based on experience, below 25 degrees and stay low). Happened in Metro Detroit a few weeks ago, not really that big of a deal. The roads get salted, and continuous driving melts the ice a bit too.
