Deadpool. I will continue talking this movie up until I lose all credibility.

This man would go on a date with him in a heartbeat.

This sounds a lot like the Soderbergh on Soderbergh commentary on the Schizopolis DVD, only in book form. Should be right up my alley.

Really wish you would consider retiring the "Most Overrated" category. It invariably makes you sound like a crank.

It's a shame he doesn't do commentaries, because I could listen to him talk about his movies for hours on end and never get bored.

I've seen nine of these. Of the others, most are ones I won't have a chance to see for weeks, maybe months, even. This is why this is the most frustrating time of the year for me. At least Manchester has finally made it to my town, so I'll get to see it tomorrow without having to contemplate a three-hour round trip to

This past week:

Having previously only dabbled in Eric Rohmer's Six Moral Tales with the two initial shorts, I started 2016 by tackling the other four feature-length tales. And I have ended it by finally watching Shogun Assassin, the dubbed amalgamation of the first two Lone Wolf and Cub films. And there have been lots of things in

For my part, I'm finally getting around to reading the first Midnighter trade. (Yeah, yeah. I know it's practically ancient history at this point.) There are lots of things I like about it, but I'm not totally sold on it.

Fickle.

I expect my experience will be similar. I'm still going to check out Before and After, though, since my library went to the trouble of acquiring them.

The big one for me was The Incal by Alejandro Jodorowsky and Möbius. Real eye-opening, mind-bending stuff. I also read J.G. Ballard's High-Rise (spurred on by the film, of course) and was similarly gobsmacked by it.

Counterpoint: David Kalat's commentary on the Criterion release of the film, which is so comprehensive he has to spread it over both versions.

Thank you, no.

I saw Majeure a few years back when he came to my town as the opening act for a band I don't even think I stayed to watch. Would love to see Zombi live sometime.

This week my recommendation is Zombi keyboardist Steve Moore's score for The Mind's Eye, which was just released by Relapse Records. The Mind's Eye is a film I have not seen and have no designs on seeing, but at this point I'll buy anything Moore puts out. He's that reliable.

Since last week's column, I have seen:

Well, now I know what to put on my wishlist.
