It's the disjointed nature of the site that makes me think that. "Will women be interested in it? Yes? Put it on Jezebel." It doesn't matter if it's celebrity photos or politics. There's got to be some sort of cognitive dissonance there, no?

@dontholdbacknk: I agree with everything you just said. I visit the site for the longer, more insightful pieces and try to ignore the rest. But more and more, it seems like Jezebel is not so much a feminist news site as a repository for any news that is geared toward a female audience. It's the women's news ghetto.
Makes enough sense, doesn't it? I know my boyfriend was pleased thatI was making several times more than he was and able to pull more weight financially. It meant I could write a big check for rent and security deposit for a new apartment and fill the place with furniture without demolishing my emergency fund. (He's…
Being a model requires the beauty, poise... and the agility of an ibex.
@cunegonde: Nothing against John Ashbery, but his work really can be difficult to understand, and I've been in too many workshops with people who have clearly said to themselves, "Oh, so good poetry is hard to understand? I will just write something that is incomprehensible, and it will be good poetry." No, people,…
@LuvEwan: Brilliant!
I do apologize for not speaking.
@Sara Barlow: I've had an outdoor cat for about 12 years. She was fully grown when she moved into our backyard, so we don't know how old she actually is.
@miamaya: My family adopted an outdoor cat after she showed up and had kittens under our deck. We caught the kittens and brought them to a shelter, but they told us that the mother cat would likely be put down because she was feral and wouldn't get adopted. So we took her back home. This was about 12 years ago. We…
"It can go terribly, terribly wrong" is something you could say about a relationship at any stage. A smart couple is capable of assessing the level of risk involved in the decision to move in together and deciding whether or not they're comfortable with that. And sometimes it's more risky to live apart.
@SuperMeels urban cookie collective: This = my strategy. My boyfriend and I just moved into a 2-bedroom apartment. And the way the layout works, the rooms don't flow together. Both bedrooms and the living room have doors that open off the main hallway. You can have total privacy. It's a beautiful thing.
@Cochese 2.0: I find it tasteless that people would complain about freckles and moles so openly here—as if they're so rare than no one with a few of them might be reading! Thanks for the kind and reasonable response.
I have fair skin and plenty of freckles and moles. My back looks similar to the back of the woman in the photo. And anti-freckle comments like the ones below are the reason why I so rarely get naked in front of anyone. Just remember, people: your negativity leads to less nudity in the world.
@mwynn13: Mine is the same way. He told me this year he was thinking about getting me a laptop battery (because mine sticks out and makes it uncomfortable to actually hold the laptop on my lap). I can tell he's really trying, but he just doesn't get it when I tell him just to get me something (inexpensive and) pretty.
At one point in college I was stuck without a warm enough coat, so I strapped a heating pad around my waist beneath the coat I had. Obviously this is not the most elegant solution, but it worked!
