It’s only going to get worse. Trump has pretty much de-humanized immigrants, and border patrol agents don’t have much supervision. For some of them a load of vulnerable people with no resources - who’s going to stop them being victimized, would they even dare speak out?

I agree. Like, people make mistakes, and I’m not going to always hold something like that against a person who clearly regrets it now. But if they’re running for president? Yeah, then it becomes a relevant consideration again. And it’s a pretty major black mark.

Poor voting choice in 2016 aside, I really do think Ojeda seems like a decent guy, and I do like him. Not for president, though! I think he’d make a far better Congressmen, and I hope he continues to set his sights on that.

Though Ojeda is a Democrat, he supported Trump in 2016. He says he was unwilling to support Hillary Clinton after she beat Bernie Sanders in the Democratic primary, and turned to Trump as a last resort.
