Fun game: name a prominent female who has been given three chances to get an apology right and then been lavished with praise when she finally does.

I’m going to take them to The Dalai LLama if they ask.

Bryan Fuller did an amazing job, and I’ll give him all the credit for fleshing out the characters and making the adaption work. He does tend to walk or get canceled early, though one wonders if it’s him not playing well with others or him not wanting to play toxic industry games.

Only mildly related, but Emily Hampshire is fantastic, and I will see this because she’s in it.

The m-fucker helped get us W and the Iraq War. He can rot in hell with the rest of the purity bros.

Russians gotta Russian. Sure some of the brosocialists from Reddit are here to, but mention Kamala Harris and you’ll really start to see them froth. Hey, bros, Ted Devine and Paul Manafort worked together for Putin to install a dictator in The Ukraine.

People routinely say that, when the truth is people from all levels might very well be insulated from the bad behavior. A big star might be kept out of the loop or the key grip. There was a fascinating article about the culture at Miramax, which was toxic but many former employees had no idea the extent of Weinstein’s

I agree with you, and I also want to add that it’s because people feared losing their livelihood and possibly life-changing exposure in a deeply competitive industry that they often stayed silent and allowed abusers to continue. I’m all for loudly exposing abusers, and I’m extremely glad that people are now willing to

Also, Lauer’s public persona was as a nice guy and a gentleman, while Louis CK never hid that he was an asshole with serious issues just that he was a criminal abuser. I want them both gone and/or using their wealth to change the culture as people have suggested. However, chinks were already fully formed in Lauer’s

You’re right, and I think it might be that moms feel maternal toward the characters. They often see their own kids in them.

Yes, thankfully, mom is a card-carrying proud Democrat and hates Trump, and even she recognizes that TBBT isn’t “that funny” - she just says she connects to the characters.

My mother loves this show. SHE LOVES IT. She treats it like women used to treat soap operas. She’s invested in the characters’ lives. She wants them to be happy. She worries about them. I don’t get it, but you know at a certain point I’m “you do you, mom.”

I certainly don’t want to believe - and don’t - the Bourdain was just a craven hypocrite. So, you’re probably landing somewhere close to the truth there. It’s just sad all around.

One thing I’ve been uncomfortable with in the #Metoo movement is the harsh judgement of perceived enablers and the certainly that people must have known, which seems totally unfair to me. It also seems dangerous, given how predators go out of their way to cultivate people as shields and how they often present

Screen Prism did this beautiful video defending Disney’s Cinderella and pointing out that she does, in fact, show agency and save herself in but our contemporary biases and habit of denigrating feminine traits prevent us from seeing it. There’s no argument that the film is perfect, but it’s eye-opening. I learned from

I remember when Star Trek fans didn’t like Enterprise, so they harassed actress Jolene Blaylock in the most sexist way possible to protest that her character’s tight catsuit was sexist. Or something. The difference is that pre-social media, she could insulate herself without harming her career. Nowadays, parts are

If this is your response to her harassment and her response, you’re the one who is trash. Also: IT’S A KID’S MOVIE! STFU!

Part of the wincing for me is how judgemental Asia and Rose were toward “enablers” and how nasty they could be toward them. Rose ripped into Alyssa Milano for sticking by Weinstein’s wife and believing that she didn’t know. Milano believes her longtime friend was blinded by love and privilege. Whether that’s true or

It’s curious. Bourdain was a great advocate for victims, but he was awfully judgemental toward people who he thought “knew” or enabled predators including Hillary Clinton. This is also true of Argento herself Rose McGowan.

Wait, don’t rape people is a Hollywood thing? Shame on them for trying to clean house and make raping not acceptable, no matter who does it. You sure owned the libs there!
