The joke is supposed to be at the expense of action movies where the heroes are on a quest to save the damsel in distress. This movie is making fun of that by putting a cat in the damsel role and turning the hyper-masculine heroes into cat daddies.

There is nothing wrong with that sports report. I thought it was rather clever. Or at least as clever as a sports reporter in Chattanooga is going to get. And it was not disrespectful. Agreed, it seems gratuitous. I lost a friend to suicide last year. I don’t know for sure how he did it and I don’t want to.
As the husband of a woman with depression - it’s always to be taken seriously. Life is tough. But when your body and mind decide they want to fight you, it’s even worse.
