I try not to be a jerk since everyone (certainly including me) makes mistakes but there have been some real doozies lately, including an article by William this week that was partly premised on an easily verifiable falsehood (that smoking weed in NYC parks was legal). I’m genuinely dumfounded how an experienced writer

This one blows past making me angry/sad about the declining editorial standards of the AV Club and just makes me feel bad for the author for having written it. They really shouldn’t let professionals write without a net like this. I miss Keith Phipps.

That $465 million budget? It situates just one season of Tolkien life in between Israel and Ireland—as in, the countries—on the list of national gross domestic product. It’s a lot of money, is our point.

My city gets more rain than Seattle and I would looooooove for lawns to be illegal.

If your home is built in a desert, be grateful you have water to drink and don’t waste it on a lawn.

I can’t imagine living in Las Vegas, or any similar climate, and actually wanting to install a goddamn lawn.  Sheer idiocy in the first place for so many reasons.

This deserves its own “Great Job, Internet.”

I had no idea about the Scientology down escalator thing. That’s wild, and stranger to me even than the whole E-meter business.

I mean, that could and probably will happen. The Dome is probably a protected landmark.

I worked at the Arclight Hollywood in 2012/2013, and as a film fan it was such a cool experience. Got to meet about every famous actor and filmmaker you could think of, saw so many movies for free, and worked with a ton of awesome people. A few stray memories:

Arclight is the only thing I miss about Los Angeles.

Yeah, sad to hear this. Hopefully, someone will get the Cinerama Dome going on a separate, maybe architectural/historical deal. That place is pretty special. Saw the 2001:Space Odyssey rerelease there.

Something like the Cinerama Dome, yeah, that’s a landmark and will be bought. The other Arclights could just as easily be gutted and turned into an Urban Outfitters

I saw “Terminator 2" in the Cinerama Dome. That was something special.

Arclight has ruined me for all other theaters.

While it would be great if Quentin Tarantino could rally a consortium of investors and take over like the New Beverly Theater, getting the involvement of other directors and producers, it would not surprise me if Netflix or someone like it would purchase the leases.

Someone has to buy them out, right? RIGHT? I’ve got my issues with Arclight but I don’t want to see them go under.

It’s because most people are incapable of “I will do better”. Not me of course, I’m awesome. I’m talking about those other people.

Racism doesn’t have to be malicious to still be racist.
